138 Reade Street
New York, NY
Architect: BKSK Architects
Contractor: Top 8 Construction Co. Inc.
138 Reade Street is a new eight story condominium building located in the heart of Tribeca. The building was designed by BKSK Architects and built by Top 8 Construction Co. Inc. and features four loft apartments and one owner-occupied triplex penthouse. Although not located within a Landmark district, the exterior façade has a modern resemblance to the distinctiveness of the neighborhood. 138 Reade Street received a Bronze, Brick in Home Building Award, from the Brick Industry Association in 2008. The storefront windows were constructed using Meranti wood frames and Meranti wood on the above level windows. Old hard pine New York loft columns were re-milled and repurposed as sliding doors and windows and all operable tilt turn windows were fitted with child safety locks and custom brick molding. All units were composed of high energy saving frame which aligned with the glazing specifications.
